POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for leading the execution of the merchandising process for all our divisions.  This individual will align with key executives in order to drive all aspects of the customer experience inclusive of product presentation, marketing, ecomm and stores support; create and manage divisional product assortment strategies.  Ensure quality of divisional buying office work.  Support company's long range goals and divisional strategies/initiatives.  Act as advocate for the Company across the corporation.

POSITION SCOPE:

Business Acumen: Oversee the achievement of financial plans

Formulate and profitably execute the development, selection, procurement and promotion of merchandise

Ensure seasonal product selection, key/mailer item identification, and initial mark-up support financial and conceptual objectives

Continually partner with production, planning, allocation, visual presentation, marketing, ecomm and storeline to manage the business both pre-season and in-season through analysis and tactical adjustments

Consistently include wholesale direction, ecomm direction (brand strategy, wholesale strategy) to direct product areas

Participate in fiscal planning

Determine and drive the strategic focus of the overall product area: identify growth, maintain and down trending businesses and regions

Buy Process:

Develop short and long term strategic plans for division that align with corporate direction

Ensure divisional strategies align with corporate objectives & customer experience calendar

Guide merchants and buyers on concept, color direction and price-value relationships

Balancing brand, business & customer needs

Approve product recommendations based on demonstrated knowledge of customer and marketplace

Ensure space allocation supports company productivity targets

Ensure visual merchandising strategy supports brand aesthetic, brand initiatives, and satisfies the customer experience

Lead all merchant strategic meetings and gain buy-in from executive team

Ensure product campaigns are communicated through both in-store initiatives and external outreach

Partner with planning weekly and monthly to present and implement strategic changes in the business to improve profitability and productivity to ensure financial goals are met

Developing Talent:

Identify, recruit and select high caliber talent

Promote an environment that fosters respect for the ideas of others and supports ongoing collaboration to execute business strategies

Drive innovation from all levels on the team.

Provide coaching and feedback on a consistent basis to direct reports

Build and manage succession planning for all levels to ensure the availability of future talent

Lead by example; engage and inspire team

Building Networks/Influence:

Establish and grow a strong level of communication and partnership with business partners in and outside of immediate cross functional team

Partner with corporate design, global manufacturing, supply chain and international/wholesale to ensure needs of the business are met

Negotiate persuasively to create solutions that address the interests of others

Express differing viewpoints tactfully and sensitively
