Position: Planning and Merchandising Manager

Reporting to: Head of Buying and Merchandising

Overview:

Responsible for strategic planning, gross margin, inventory and OTB levels for New York and Los Angeles stores. The role will also lead and develop the merchandising team to drive overall business. Responsible for initiating and executing the strategic initiatives within the company, while ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all plans and projects developed.

 

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing seasonal Merchandise Plan through analysis of historical data and partnership with Head of Buying and Merchandising
  • Monitoring monthly performance of sales, inventory, and margin targets
  • Perform business analysis and recommend courses of action to drive profitable sales
  • Plan, Manage seasonal OTB
  • Report creation
  • Continue to improve / drive MD function
  • Ensure weekly functional schedule is followed
  • Work closely with the accounting team; Approval of all invoices for the merchandising department
  • Inter/Intra Communication; Collaborates closely with the store and other departments to drive desired results

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years retail planning and merchandising experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience involving sales and inventory planning, sales forecasting, and managing OTB
  • 1-2 years of experience managing others; Ability to lead and manage team
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Ability to partner and influence cross-functional partners
  • Excellent Knowledge of Retail Systems (Retail Pro experience a plus)
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Excellent understanding of the entire buying and merchandising process
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Strong Retail Math Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of planning systems
  • 4-year college degree required
