  • Overview: Director of Business Planning oversees the budgeting and pre-season plan development process at the channel, country level. The Director owns daily forecasting by KPI and manages company inventory levels from preseason to end of life sell-out.  The Director also manages communication of performance to Forecast, Plan, and LY on a daily basis.  this role manages a team of Planners and Associate Planners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, approve and present forecast sales, margin and inventory turn relative to last forecast plan and LY
  • Build daily sales forecasts by channel and country supported by KPIs and align with channel leaders on expectations, investment and contingency plans
  • Develop promotional calendar to support financial targets
  • Provide weekly re-forecast highlighting risks and opportunities to reach financial targets
  • Present analysis and partner with channel leaders as well as Merchandise Planning and Merchandising to continually manage the business through in-season analysis and tactical adjustments
  • Partner with Merchandise Planning to create liquidation strategies well in advance of aged inventory or liability issues
  • Partner with Finance to sign off on budget sales, margin and inventory targets for future years/quarters and architect long range plans at the channel, country level
  • Review and present receipt plans by region, partner with Merchandise Planning to evaluate on a monthly basis as part of open to buy process
  • Partner with wholesale in the global roll-up of inventory and sales
  • Partner with Allocation on alpha and deviation management to optimize store productivity
  • Partner with Allocation to suggest optimal distribution based on trend
  • Effectively manage and support the career development of direct reports to ensure job satisfaction, retention and to identify and develop bench strength
  • Establish cross-functional relationships to promote best practices and process adherence; foster teamwork

Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least three years’ experience as a Planning Director or Manager
  • At least three years of supervisory experience required
  • Previous management experience demonstrating strong leadership, team development and strong cross functional relationships
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Mastery of channel KPIs and how to leverage to impact business
  • Ability to influence business leaders through data and insightful analysis
  • Experience managing an omni channel business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
  • Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written
  • Excellent time management/project skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
  • Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner
  • Goal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Outlook, Word
