Title: Executive Director of Packaging Design

Location: NYC

Company: Large Beauty Company, supporting an established brand who is trying to innovate and refresh the products! 

  • Create shelf-back, social-ready 3D designs and package design layouts, to help drive overall brand strategy
  • Ensure continued innovation, while in adherence to brand guidelines
  • Design with visual merchandising & store design across all channels in mind (travel retail, specialty multi, department stores, online)
  • Understand that packaging is the key sales vehicle and design with the consumer shopping habits in mind

Industrial Design:

  • Leads team in concepting and ideating product designs (primary packaging) in line with Company needs and market trends
  • Collaborate with product development, product marketing and creative design to create highly desired designs
  • Bring packaging newness to our product innovations while staying true to heritage facets of our brand identity

Retail Experience:

  • Design across various consumer touch points, including specialty-multi and open-sell as priority
  • Strong focus on social/e-commerce
  • Partner with other creative departments to ensure omni-channel connectivity on daily basis (VM, 2D/Digital)
  • Ensure to always have “finger on the pulse” with product and market trends, gaining inspiration from everywhere
  • Think outside of the box and leverage knowledge of competitive landscape and trends

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience, within luxury/beauty products. With an elevated atheistic (NOT Mass Market)
  • Ability to lead and rewire a team 
  • Strong in shelf-back, social-ready design
  • Differentiated, innovative packaging
  • Stellar industrial design capabilities
  • Artistic backgrounds in areas like sculpture (nice to have)
  • Seasoned team leader, adept at driving change and brand evolution
  • Challenges standard practices, and applies new and different ways of thinking to generate new ideas/opportunities
  • Fosters an environment that rewards new ideas
  • Champions others’ great ideas and helps move ideas forward
  • Savvy collaborator who builds rapport easily and collaborates across a complex structure
  • Builds and initiates long-term partnerships within Creative and other and with cross-functional stakeholders in support of overall brand objectives
  • Builds and develops diverse and inter-connected teams
  • Demonstrates flexibility and is able to lead teams in ambiguous situations
  • Displays ability to leverage knowledge of organization and industry
  • Recognizes and acts quickly on short-term opportunities consistent with the company’s strategic direction
