Job Description:

Director of Marketing will oversee the development and delivery of the brand marketing strategy to drive brand awareness and sales revenue.

This individual will report to the Brand President and assist with driving best-in-class marketing and retail specific campaigns within the mass and specialty sector. The Director of Marketing will work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and sales team to develop programs and analyze campaigns to ensure growth and success for the brand and retail partnerships.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Grow and develop the brand within the mass and specialty retail sector
  • Work closely with Brand President to develop and implement a marketing plan to achieve goals and objectives of the organization
  • Build and execute a 360 degree marketing strategy to drive revenue growth and brand awareness
  • Oversee and manage Marketing team in the development and implementation of business & brand strategies for product introductions, promotions, communications, forecasting and inventory management of brand portfolio
  • Read and synthesize NPD data
  • Assist in refining customer segmentations through research and analysis
  • Analyze, refine, and improve campaigns to ensure programs deliver strong return for the brand
  • Build and manage marketing budget to drive increased efficiency
  • Develop and maintain marketing calendars for the haircare category and client partnerships
  • Drive creative to ensure implementation is aligned with strategic objectives
  • Stay current on beauty industry marketing and social media news, constantly testing new ideas and platforms

Brand:

  • Lead the development of brand positioning and assortment architecture, and refine customer segmentations
  • Drive the life-cycle brand vision including product research and ideation, go-to-market launch campaigns, and ongoing consumer research and analysis
  • Assist with creating, developing and executing brand refresh strategy \

Retail:

  • Develop and execute retail marketing programs including CRM, promotions, coupons, sampling, displays, education, direct mail and events
  • Analyze ROI of retailer campaigns and initiatives and make recommendations to optimize product mix, price and promotion
  • Deep understanding of visual merchandising including but not limited to gondolas, POS displays, window visuals, etc.

Digital:

  • Develop digital marketing strategy and ensure programs have a clear and consistent brand messaging
  • Partner with Digital Marketing Manager on the planning and execution of digital, interactive, social media, web and retailer ecomm marketing campaigns
  • Analyze monthly reports tracking digital and ecomm media KPI, brand conversations, engagement, and conversion/sales for ongoing campaigns 

Advertising/Media:

  • Develop and manage media planning and communications: brand strategies, objectives, target information, market priorities, planning etc.
  • Maintain keen eye on digital media: monitor competitive activity, identify creative opportunities and partnerships
  • Create and proof all copy and creative for advertising assets

PR:

  • Oversee strategy and partnership with PR firm and the development of editor, stylist and celebrity relationships, gifting and outreach
  • Create seasonal press kits and ensure fulfillment of sample requests for PR and editorial outreach
  • Research and compile articles, magazines and brand editorial

Influencer Relations:

  • Develop influencer strategy and activation
  • Review and approve all macro partnerships and oversee vetting of new candidates for targeted retailer/brand campaigns
  • Analyze ROI and engagement of influencers to measure campaign effectiveness and refine programs

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Advertising
  • Experience in mass class of trade and sound understanding of key US retailers
  • 7-10 years of retail & digital marketing experience, preferably in CPG or beauty
  • Experience developing and managing a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership in establishing work priorities for multiple projects, taking responsibility, developing confidence & respect, and shifting priorities to accommodate change
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills to build forecasts and P&L’s
  • Experience working with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI) to analyze and understand the marketplace
