Job Description

Title: Controller/Staff Accountant

Location: NYC

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections
  • Prepare weekly cash disbursements to pay client expenses, in accordance with the company’s budget
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts including but not limited to, banks, factors, fixed assets, prepaid assets, credit cards, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and line of credit.
  • Ensure all client deposits are made. Investigate missing deposits, client chargebacks, and collections
  • Generate weekly revenue recognition reports which includes, comparison of month-end projection to actuals, and e-commerce sales
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll using JustWorks
  • Responsible for office compliance, minimum wage increases, Transitchek, 401-K distributions, and health benefits
  • Prepare quarterly sales tax reconciliation for the company’s CPA to review and pay out
  • Work with all departments in proper recording of all job estimates, purchase orders, and payment arrangements before orders are placed
  • Manage employee’s paid time off records
  • Work with the shipping department on collecting payment from clients that are not on payment terms with the company
  • Generate client and departmental reports as needed
  • Set budget for all office spend including supplies, computer hardware, and software
  • Oversee inventory controls of aged and current products on hand, and office supplies
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and other requests by the CFO and CEO of the company

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of five years’ experience in accounting
  • Human Resources experience and fashion company experience preferable
  • Computer literate; ability to work with a range of computer programs including financial data base including Quickbooks, Google Documents, Excel and Word
  • Database experience (MS Access, Shopify, Merchant Services, and Salesforce Shopify and other merchant services) is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with all levels of staff and clients effectively
