Location: New York City

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing the seasonal merchandise strategy, including product selection on the style/color level and identifying key item development to optimize and benchmark box assortment opportunities
  • Develop bottoms-up item level assortment plans, including class penetrations, sku counts, order quantities, and assortment by category allowing for proper depth and breadth through ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Management of inventory and data integrity to include:
    • PO uploads, PO and style/color management and maintenance, and Receipt logs
  • Ensure maximum product flow for seasonal boxes, provide size scale analysis to optimize buys, and manage inventory levels
  • Develop in-depth hindsight analysis, drawing insights and providing clear direction to the merchandising team that articulates the go-forward needs of the KIDBOX business
  • Analyze product performance, including historical sales, identify key drivers and trends, nuances of climate and location to identify optimal box placement opportunity as well as the analysis of class performance, planned class penetration, and average retail/costs
  • Partner and direct stylists to capture anecdotal feedback on product performance, share insights into style and box assortment direction, and review seasonal product assortments/themes
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships and attend trade shows to develop vendor partnerships
  • Continual vendor communication in regards to buying terms, PO fill rates, any quality/product issues or RTV needs
  • Continually research and explore new trends in marketplace and category, monitor industry trends, and evaluate competition
  • Work closely with operations and warehouse team to manage ASN issues/receiving issues – imports/exports, shipment priorities and tracking, transfer requests, special projects communication, damages, receipt reconciliation and findings
  • Partner with Customer Service to analyze and action on ratings and reviews and customer feedback
  • Manage gross margin box profitability monthly via forecasting of sales, cost flow, inventory positioning
  • Review OTB with planning to ensure sales and receipt plans support overarching product strategy

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in both Buying and Assistant Buying
  • Successful experience in buying in multi brand, multi-vendor environment, Childrenswear preferred
  • Strong understanding of merchandising financials, retail math and the ability to manage profitability, and knowledge of OTB process
  • Strong product sensibility
  • Strong analytical/planning skills and creative problem solving skills required
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Ability to work with complex buying tools/systems
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and present business strategies both one-on-one and in a group setting
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible in accordance with the startup environment
