SUMMARY

The transformational Merchant is at the heart of one of our fastest developing categories, and will develop and execute the beauty strategy and long term vision by delivering a balanced product assortment.  This exciting opportunity will allow you to creatively pursue the latest cosmetic trends and give you the freedom to source & develop new product lines to successfully grow the business year over year.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop business opportunities by identify emerging products, trends, and “what’s next” regarding pop-culture selection
  • Develop merchandising strategies that successfully deliver specific category goals by staying current on customer purchasing and product movement trends
  • Stay progressive in knowledge with industry and competitor trends while executing at both a tactical and strategic level to drive selection, sales and margin growth
  • Provide self-directed product strategies utilizing all key financial metrics to DMM and Senior Management Team
  • Directly hire, supervise, coach and mentor Associate and Assistant Merchants and Assistant Merchants in Training with clear career paths and developmental plans.
  • Effectively lead and communicate with vendors, the internal buying group, marketing and upper management
  • Add additional projects, lead task forces, and support strategies within and outside owned department
  • Execute weekly business meetings at the department level to DMM and Senior Management Team

 

Minimum Requirements 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of cosmetic/beauty retail buying experience required
  • Ability to think clearly and strategically in a high energy, fast paced environment
  • Clear ability to identify and/or develop key trends to drive sales in category
  • Proven track record of achieving results and exceeding expectations, with examples to substantiate
  • Clear ability to identify and/or develop key trends to drive sales in category
  • Exhibit leadership skills along with ability to acquire and develop high performance teams
  • Proven history of demonstrating strong negotiation skills
  • Strategic thought leadership, cross functional team collaboration and influence
